Prof.Godwin Onu (The Rector of the Moment) pays condolence to Sen.Chukwumerije's Family.
The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Professor Godwin Onu (Rector of the Moment) few days ago, paid condolence to the family of late Senator Uche Chukwumerije at his Isuochi family home. The Rector expressed his sympathetic grief on the demise of the iconic parliamentarian stating that “DEATH” was not a friendly phenomenon since it could not spare his friend (Senator Chukwumerije) at a time the nation needed him most. He also eulogized the late Senator’s adorable attributes and accomplishments both in Nigeria and beyond. He further advised the son, Chaka Chukwumerije never to be incomprehensible to the foot prints of his late father. The former INEC Chairman, Professor Maurice Iwu also condoled with the family along side with the Rector.

SLT Department eulogizes the Rector.
The Science Laboratory Technology complex which was on-going
few weeks back has been beautifully completed. Unanimously, the students of SLT
department, Federal Polytechnic Oko, consequently eulogized the Rector,
Professor Godwin Onu and his wonderful development team for enacting such an
airy edifice which will enhance relaxation and comfort during lectures.
Austin Otu Oyim, a HND2 student who spoke on behalf of the students said
he is still marveled at the pace of development which has been availed
by the magnificent Rector of the moment. "Though i am leaving the school
in few weeks time, i must shower encomiums on our Rector. He has given
us all it takes to study and come out colorful in SLT and almost all the
departments. All i will say is that he should keep it up, and Nigeria,
not only Anambra will remember his good works one day." Austin happily
said.

Triple honours for Prof Godwin Onu, Oko Poly Rector
AWKA—PROFESSOR Godwin Onu, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic,
Oko, Anambra State was recently honoured with three awards in recognition of
his contributions towards the growth of the polytechnic and service to
humanity. The occasion was indeed a celebration of sort as eulogies were poured
on the man, popularly described, as Digital Rector among students and workers
of the polytechnic.
The awards came from the United
States of America, USA, chapter of the Oko Polytechnic Alumni Association, the
Aguata Students Association and Orumba South Students Association.
Among achievements credited to
Professor Onu since he assumed office as Rector of the Polytechnic by those who
gave him the awards, include massive infrastructure development of the
institution,
sanitising the academic environment
such that Oko Poly has become a no-go area for cult activities, introduction of
computer–based examinations, expansion of academic programmes in the three
campuses of the polytechnic and facilitating linkage programmes with renowned
tertiary institutions abroad.
President of USA branch of the
alumni association, Mr. Baron Luggard, said during the presentation that the
former students of the polytechnic began to have interest in the development of
Oko Poly because of the excellent leadership qualities which Onu had exhibited
over the years.
According to him, the alumni
association in the Diaspora made it a point of duty to visit the polytechnic
every year to interact with the management with a view to finding out areas
they could be of assistance, adding that Onu has cooperated with them in their
annual home-coming.
He said that it was because of the
marvellous work the Rector was doing in the school that informed their decision
to donate large quantities of books in all fields of learning, computers and
other items. He said: “We have taken time to review developments at Oko
Polytechnic and we believe that if somebody is working very hard, he deserves
commendation. By this award, we are appreciating your contributions towards
improvement of knowledge in this part of the world.”
To the Orumba South Students
Association, which happens to be Onu’s local government, the award was to
encourage him to continue to make his people proud by doing more. “We want to
appreciate you for being the first son of Orumba South to be appointed Rector
of a polytechnic and the first son of Ezira to become a professor,” the
students said before presenting their award.
In the same manner, the Aguata
Students Association said Onu will be remembered for turning Oko Poly around
and improving the image of the institution such that it is the most sought
after polytechnic in the country by those seeking admission into polytechnics
in the country.
In his speech, Onu, who was elated
by the awards, expressed joy that some people somewhere were recognising his
little contributions to make Oko Polytechnic one of the best in the country. He
said: “Before assuming this office, I wrote my mission statement and I thank
God that we have been striving to build a modern polytechnic within the limits
of available resources.
“Most of the funds we use here are
generated through our personal efforts, particularly monies donated by our
friends and we always ensure that we use the money judiciously so as not to
disappoint those who made the donations.”
The Rector said that in addition to
developing the permanent site at Oko where over 15 high rise buildings and a
magnificent auditorium have been built, the Polytechnic Library, which is one
of the biggest in any tertiary institution in Nigeria, would soon be completed.

Prof.Godwin Onu's On-going Transformation attracts millions of Naira Library from Prof.Gashion Ejeckam
The family of Professor Gashion Ejeckam of Isulo in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, donated a Library worth millions of Naira to the Federal Polytechnic Oko to support the transformation going on in the Institution.

A RECTOR WHO IS UPDATED IN STAFF AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Many have gone into researches as to unveil the secrets of Prof.Godwin Onu's leadership pedigree and achievements. But few have started to find out reasons behind his overdose capabilities. He is one of those that are not satisfied with the little information and knowledge they have in their abodes. He is also one of those who believes in in-service development and training. One of his hobbies is hooking with great minds for developmental strategies and leadership-style inculcation. At present, so many trainings are going on to equip him and his team mates for future leadership challenges ahead.

Jambites hail Rector of Fed.Poly.Oko, Prof Godwin Onu after a successful usage of highly configured Computer facilities.
Jambites who wrote the CBT exams few days ago has lauded the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko for the procurement of highly configured systems which fascinated the speed of the exercise. One of the CBT candidates Nwandu Nneka, who also wrote same examination in a different center last year, thanked God for the gift of Prof.Godwin Onu to Federal Polytechnic Oko and Nigeria. She said "Last Year, i wrote this same CBT exam and failed woefully not because i didn't write well, but because the system which was provided for us were giving problems. But now, we used Federal Polytechnic Oko computer facilities and there is a great difference. The system were so very fast, and the comfort of my self and my fellow Jambites were maximal. So, i thank God for the Rector who equipped this institution with this kind of wonderful facilities. God will bless that man for the Jambites". Reacting to the huge success of the exercise, the Rector in his facebook handle reiterated thus; "Recently concluded JAMB CBT Examinations at Federal Polytechnic Oko.
Federal Poly Oko had three Centers. No bad news. The exercise was a huge
success."
Another CBT candidate who pleaded for anonymity also showered encomiums on the Rector, saying that he is just a man of achievements. He said "If i had known that The Federal Polytechnic Oko, which we were told years back that is inferior, has turned like this in equipments, ambiance and organization, i would not have made any other choice in my Jamb form except it. The man incharge is indeed an achiever.and i pray that God should bless him and those behind working with him in these achievements".
